Our Story

TranspoBINGO was launched in February 2020 by Rachel Maisler (Handlebars DC), an avid city cyclist and advocate, and Erin Palmer, a former neighborhood-level elected official in DC. Together, they spent many nights brainstorming over a shared love of active transportation and building community.

TranspoBINGO is inspired by Action Committee for Transit in Montgomery County, which challenged elected officials to use only public and active transportation for a week. TranspoBINGO similarly aims to highlight the experiences of those who rely on public and active transportation.

Rachel and Erin's goal is simple: foster a deeper understanding of transportation networks and the challenges residents face daily due to insufficient investments in public and active transportation. TranspoBINGO encourages sustained engagement from elected officials and other transportation decisionmakers that brings a true commitment to improving transportation for everyone. It's also fun and a great way to build community!
